    • Best car we have ever owned.

Still going strong after 17 years! We have added a smaller SUV to our collection of cars because the Lexus is a bit big to drive into NYC on a regular basis...but it is a much more comfortable ride when I do use it as for longer trips or trips to the country. Hope it lasts another several years. Unfortunately, the new Lexus models are not nearly as attractive and classy as the old 470, so the smaller car I am now looking at is either a BMW or an Audi. Too bad, because Lexus has great service...just ugly cars at the moment.

I've been a Land Cruiser fan since a teenager and the LX 470 is about 95% Land Cruiser. I previously owned an LX 450 but sold it to a gentleman that flew down from Canada to buy it. He loves it (we stay in touch). The 470 doesn't have the rugged good looks of the 450 but is handsome in its own right. Much more comfortable and powerful and better in some offroad conditions such as ice and snow due to the more advanced 4wd system and anti-lock brakes. The 470 has taken me through all conditions including icy and snowy roads, muddy dirt trails, heavy rain, and rocky trails that would ruin any "cute ute." Living in Arizona I'm not afraid to take this beast on the trails given its abilities: Body on frame construction? Check. Locking center differential? Check. Skid plates? Check. Good approach, departure, and break over angles? Check. Solid rear axle? Check. Advanced 4wd system with low range gearing? Check. It's all there plus a trick adjustable suspension. Easily the best blend of ability, reliability, and comfort in the SUV world.

The Rolls Royce of SUVs , No better. Lexus could not have made money on this car This is a tank The ride is the next thing to flying on the highway I went to do an oil change, the guy at jeffy lube did it without checking the mileage . After he was done, he went to check the odometer and gave a big shout. He said the SUV looked new underneath and was very surprised at the high mileage
